Process Controls Engineer (II,III)

Are you our next Process Controls Engineer II or III?
We are currently seeking a Process Controls Engineers (PCE) for our chemical facilities that will develop and deploy proven and novel functional and automated controls solutions in our Phosphoric Acid, Dry Products, and Sulfuric Acid plants. The PCE will be responsible development, maintenance, deployment, troubleshooting and optimization in all aspects of the process control system. The PCE will work alongside engineering, operations, maintenance, and reliability. The PCE's goal will be to sustain statistical process control of our manufacturing operations through robust algorithms.
What will you do?

  • Brainstorm and design functional innovative automation solutions to enhance process safety, stability, reliability, cost efficiencies and throughput

  • Analyze and tune process control loops, develop interlocks and permissives

  • Develop and debug function block diagrams, ladder logic and/or structured text programming language

  • Work with Process Engineers to identify and develop important PI tags for our data historian

  • Work with Operator and Automation Technicians to develop and deploy High Performance HMI screens

  • Work with Business Unit Scrum Team to provide sustaining support of implemented automated solutions for respective location

  • Work with engineering, operations, maintenance and reliability to troubleshoot process control loops including hardware, software, and electrical

  • Communicate with stakeholders on operator training requirements, revise existing standard operating procedures, and adhere to management of change policies

  • Partner with technical leaders to incorporate or develop process control solutions

What do you need for this role?
Process Controls Engineer II

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; preferably in Process Control, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience working with Industrial Control Systems in an operational environment is required

  • Understanding of Process Controls fundamentals including feedback control, feedforward, cascade, ratio, decoupling and tuning are a must

  • Experience interpreting electrical and P&IDs required

  • Ability to deploy High Performance HMI experience preferred

  • Previous experience providing 24/7/365 support within an operational environment preferred

  • Strong verbal, written, listening and presentation communication skills

  • Ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work with employees at all levels of the organization

  • Demonstrated problem solving techniques and strong analytical skills

  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team across the organization

  • Ability to adapt to a continually changing business and work environment and manage multiple priorities

  • Demonstrated critical thinking and decision making skills

  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills

Process Controls Engineer III

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; preferably in Process Control, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering

  • 5+ years of experience working with Industrial Control Systems in an operational environment is required

  • Understanding of Process Controls fundamentals including feedback control, feedforward, cascade, ratio, decoupling and tuning are a must

  • Experience interpreting electrical and P&IDs required

  • Ability to deploy High Performance HMI experience required

  • Previous experience providing 24/7/365 support within an operational environment preferred

  • Strong verbal, written, listening and presentation communication skills

Preferred for Process Controls Engineer II and III

  • SCRUM knowledge or experience preferred


  • Ability to develop in Visual Basic Programming Language is a plus

  • Ability to develop in structured text is a plus

  • Familiar with OSI Soft PI data historian including Process Book, PI Vision and Asset Framework are a plus

  • Experience with multiple DCS/PLC platforms including Rockwell PLC RSLogix, Novatech D/3 System, DeltaV are preferred. Yokogawa is a plus

  • Knowledge of PSM, HAZOP, LOPA, and SIS are a plus

  • Microsoft Office Suite and specific use of PI Datalink for Excel are a plus

  • Understanding of network architecture and communication protocols is a plus

  • Minitab is a plus

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
