POSITION TITLE:
BILLING SPECIALISTFLSA:
NON-EXEMPTREQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
High School Diploma/GED.
Minimum of two years of experience as a Billing Specialist in a clinic or hospital environment.
Knowledge of accounts receivable.
Experience in dealing with the public.
Good communication skills.
Experienced in insurance, claims processing, account inquiry, billing and coding, and the reimbursement process.
Strong knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, County, and Private Insurance.
Experience with eClinical Works practice management software preferred.
Ability to communicate verbally, written, and with visual media.
Able to work in harmony with other staff.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Process claims through data entryProcesses Medicare, Medicaid, HCHCP, and Third-Party claims.
Follow up and edit claims; i.

denials, resubmittals.
Posting of Insurance Remittance VouchersAssist and consults with patients regarding their claimsReviews aging of claims past ninety daysOversee daily billing operations and assign department tasks as neededResponsible for making sure remits are posted at months endTrain all new employees on the Revenue Cycle to include insurances and eligibility; the claims process; unposted payments; and account inquiry.
Re-training as needed; as well as staff development and updates.
Develop and maintain current training materials.
Align training responsibilities with competency requirements and conduct evaluations at 60 days and annually for staff that performs these duties.
Monitor and document training within the Relias Learning Management System.
Local travel may be required.
Other duties as assigned.
